Effects of Schools, Teaching Staff and Classes on Achievement and Well-Being in Secondary Education: Similarities and Differences between School Outcomes.
Opdenakker, Marie-Christine; Van Damme, Jan
School Effectiveness and School Improvement, v11 n2 p165-96 Jun 2000
Explores effects of schools, teachers, and classes on first-year secondary students at year's end in Belgium, using multilevel analysis. Classes' and schools' relative influence on achievement is much higher than on well-being. An academic climate can discourage nonmotivated students. A communitarian climate can motivate all pupils.
