What If I Woke Up as the Other Sex: Botswana Youth Perspectives on Gender.
Commeyras, Michelle; Montsi, Mercy
Gender and Education, v12 n3 p327-46 Sep 2000
Examined essays written by youths age 14-20 in Botswana, a country that significantly discriminates against women, about how life would change if they woke up one day as the opposite sex. Overall, 40 percent of respondents had mixed emotions about waking up as the other sex. Both sexes were painfully aware of the overwhelming disadvantage of being female. (SM)
