Client Suicide: Its Frequency and Impact on Counselors.
McAdams, Charles R. III; Foster, Victoria A.
Journal of Mental Health Counseling, v22 n2 p107-21 Apr 2000
Study reports the results of a national survey of 1000 professional counselors regarding the frequency and impact of client suicide. Counselors reported having intrusive and avoidant thoughts regarding the crisis that were higher than those of either psychologists or psychiatrists. Results indicate that the effects of client suicide have potentially negative and serious consequences for student and professional counselors alike. (Contains 26 references and 3 tables.)
