The process of developing a doctoral program at the University of the Incarnate Word demonstrates the use of both transformational leadership (empowerment, advocacy, reconciliation) and transactional leadership (power brokering, making legitimate decisions). The contemporary environment needs multiple leaders who exercise different types of leadership. (SK)
