Lay Information Provision in Community Settings: How Community Health Nurses Disseminate Human Services Information to the Elderly.
Pettigrew, Karen E.
Library Quarterly, v70 n1 p47-85 Jan 2000
In this ethnographic study, Mark Granovetter's theory of the strength of weak ties was used to investigate the flow of human services information (HIS) among nurses and the elderly at neighborhood clinics. Analysis of observations and interviews revealed that nurses were bridging weak ties and helped link seniors with local services. (Contains 81 references.) (Author/LRW)
