Adolescent Psychosocial Competence: The Importance and Role of Regard for Parents.
Sim, Tick N.
Journal of Research on Adolescence, v10 n1 p49-64 2000
Examined the role of regard for parents in Singapore adolescents' psychosocial competence, as indicated by self-esteem and susceptibility to antisocial peer pressure. Found that regard for parents was positively related to self-esteem and negatively associated with antisocial susceptibility. Regard for parents moderated the relation between parental support and self-esteem, and mediated the relation between parental monitoring and antisocial susceptibility. (Author/KB)
