Shared Accountability: The Importance of Cooperation and Comprehensiveness in Accountability Frameworks.
Hunter, Darryl; McCreary, Gillian
Education Canada, v39 n3 p20-22 Fall 1999
Across Canada, a range of approaches to assessment reflects different theories of organizational change and contrasting views of the purpose of education. Saskatchewan's accountability framework is based on shared principles about appropriate evaluation, jointly developed by education stakeholders. Features include cooperation and shared responsibility (promoted through consensus seeking, dialogue, and transparency); comprehensiveness (systems approach to evaluation); and teacher professionalism.
