The Effects of Academic Language Instruction on College-Bound At-Risk Secondary Students.
Wright, Edward L.; Kuehn, Phyllis
Journal of Educational Opportunity, v17 n1 p9-22 Spr-Sum 1998
A study investigated how well college-bound minority secondary school students are prepared for academic language tasks in college, how aware they are of their academic language needs, college academic culture, college curricular demands, and the effect of academic language instruction on these factors. Results indicate that students are generally underprepared in academic language and overestimate their skills. Instruction was effective. (Author/MSE)
