A Longitudinal Investigation of Depression, Hopelessness, Social Support, and Major and Minor Life Events and Their Relations to Suicidal Ideation in Adolescents.
Mazza, James J.; Reynolds, William M.
Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior, v28 n4 p358-74 Win 1998
Examines relationship of psychological and socioenvironmental factors with adolescent suicidal ideation. Finds that daily hassles and negative life events for males and social support and depression for females are significant factors related to suicidal ideation, as are changes in depression and hopelessness. Argues for the need to examine gender-specific relationships when conducting research. (Author/JDM)
