High School Health Teachers' Perceived Self-Efficacy in Identifying Students at Risk for Suicide.
King, Keith A.; Price, James H.; Telljohann, Susan K.; Wahl, Jeffrey
Journal of School Health, v69 n5 p202-207 May 1999
Surveys of high school health educators nationwide examined perceived self-efficacy in identifying adolescents at risk for suicide. Only 9% believed they could recognize a student at risk for suicide. Most teachers considered it their role to recognize students at risk and believed that if they did recognize such students, it would reduce the chances of their committing suicide. (SM)
