Differences in Knowledge-Building Between Two Types of Networked Learning Environments: An Information-Flow Analysis.
Oshima, Jun
Journal of Educational Computing Research, v19 n3 p329-51 1998
Examines how elementary school students improved their scientific discourse on a computer-networked database environment called Computer-Supported Intentional Learning Environments (CSILE). Results showed that system affordance specially designed for jointly written discourse in the discussion-note based (D-CSILE) configuration significantly facilitated students' joint knowledge-transformation activities and maintained each individual's activity to pursue his or her own agenda.
