How International Experience Affects Teaching: Understanding the Impact of Faculty Study Abroad.
Sandgren, David; Ellig, Nick; Hovde, Peter; Krejci, Mark; Rice, Mary
Journal of Studies in International Education, v3 n1 p33-56 Spr 1999
A study, drawing on faculty self-reports and interviews, examined the processes linking the short-term study-abroad experiences of college faculty and the global content of their classroom teaching. It found that experience abroad enhanced the social and self-awareness of participants, which in turn led to increased global content of classroom teaching. Excerpts from faculty statements illustrate findings. (Author/MSE)
