Increasing Link Marker Effectiveness for WWW and Other Hypermedia Interfaces: An Examination of End-User Preferences.
Kacmar, Charles J.; Carlson, John R.
Journal of the American Society for Information Science, v50 n5 p386-98 Apr 15 1999
Results of two studies of user design preferences for link markers--entities that signify pathways to additional information in hypermedia information systems--indicate that, in general, link markers that employ color and bound objects are the most effective in communicating the existence and extent of links and are most preferred by users. However, user expertise and node content played a significant role. (Author/AEF)
