New Technologies and Old-Fashioned Economics: Creating a Brave New World for U.S. Government Information Distribution and Use.
Smith, Diane
Journal of Government Information, v26 n1 p21-24 Jan-Feb 1999
Asserts that the United States government information's five stakeholders--federal agencies, Government Printing Office (GPO), depository libraries, commercial sector, and the public will need to change drastically in reaction to improved technologies. Notes that the concept of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) network may have outlived its relevance and that new ways to assist users in cost-effectively and efficiently locating government information should be explored.
