Self-Perceived Gains in Critical Thinking and Communication Skills: Are There Disciplinary Differences?
Li, Guihua; Long, Shawna; Simpson, Mary Ellen
Research in Higher Education, v40 n1 p43-60 Feb 1999
Influences of disciplinary differences on college students' self-perceived gains in critical thinking and communication skills were examined in relation to student background, experiences in the major, and college experience variables. The proposed theoretical model accounted for some variance in self-perceived gains. The variable associated most highly with gains was the quality of lower-division courses in the major. (Author/MSE)
