Eminent Teachers' Views on Teacher Education and Development.
Jackson, Robert K.; Leroy, Carol A.
Action in Teacher Education, v20 n3 p15-29 Fall 1998
Used focus groups and questionnaires to determine what influenced successful elementary teachers' development and what they considered important for current teacher education programs. Teachers attributed much of their success to personal characteristics developed throughout their lives. They considered the practicum component of their preservice education very important, and they valued the role their preservice program played in developing procedural knowledge. (SM)
