Caregiver and Professional Perceptions of Assessment Practices and Validity for American Indian/Alaska Native Families.
Banks, Susan Rae
Journal of American Indian Education, v37 n1 p16-44 Fall 1997
Twenty parents/caregivers and 11 professional practitioners reported their perceptions of assessment practices for American-Indian/Alaska-Native children in early intervention programs. Perceptions of ecological validity, treatment validity, and social validity are interpreted in terms of the gap between current and "best" practices. Recommendations relate to authentic assessment, equity, parent involvement, and congruence of assessment. Contains 45 references. (SAS)
