Does Inadequate Housing Perpetuate Children's Poverty?
Bartlett, Sheridan
Childhood: A Global Journal of Child Research, v5 n4 p403-20 Nov 1998
Draws on ethnographic research to examine the effect of unsuitable housing for the long-term capacity of children to break out of poverty. Presents case studies of three young children (4 to 9 years old) to clarify the connections between housing, parental behavior and the children's sense of identity, trust, autonomy, competence and general development. Considers implications for policy and practice. (JPB)
