Rid-A-Him or: Why Are So Many Boys Given Drugs in School? Chapters 2 and 3.
Mercogliano, Chris
SKOLE: The Journal of Alternative Education, v15 n3 p70-95 Sum 1998
Two chapters of a serialized book develop the idea that attention-deficit disorder is created by the conventional school's rigid enforcement of a spirit-deadening "order" that suppresses children's natural behaviors. Anecdotes from Albany's Free School describe incidents in which two very active and intelligent boys developed some self-awareness and self-discipline with help from peers and teachers. (TD)
