Age, Individuality, and Context as Factors in Sustained Visual Attention During the Preschool Years.
Ruff, Holly A.; Capozzoli, Mary; Weissberg, Renata
Developmental Psychology, v34 n3 p454-64 May 1998
Three studies explored age changes and individual differences in preschoolers' sustained attention in different contexts. Found that changes occurred earlier for play and television viewing than for reaction time tasks. Results suggest that children have stable tendencies to sustain attention but that attention varies with task demands and children's ability or interest in meeting its demands. (Author)
