A Comparison of Two Analytic Methods for the Identification of Neighborhoods as Intervention and Control Sites for Community-Based Programs.
O'Campo, Patricia; Caughy, Margaret O'Brien; Aronson, Robert; Xue, Xiaonan
Evaluation and Program Planning, v20 n4 p405-14 Nov 1997
Regression analysis and principal components analysis, which can be used to create perinatal risk profiles of neighborhoods within cities, were compared. Using census tract level low birthweight as the outcome variable, both methods identified factors identifying neighborhoods at risk. Both methods can be used to identify community characteristics for other types of evaluation. (SLD)
