What Did You Do Today? Children's Use of Time, Family Composition, and the Acquisition of Social Capital.

Interviewed 1,200 children, ages 3-11 years, to examine their time investment in four activities that influence cognitive and social development. Results indicate that children of highly educated parents study and read more and watch TV less. Children whose mothers worked parttime watched significantly less TV than children of mothers at home fulltime. (RJM)
