Hispanic and African American Reactions to a Simulated Race-Based Affirmative Action Scenario.
Stanush, Pamela; Arthur, Winfred, Jr.; Doverspike, Dennis
Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences, v20 n1 p3-16 Feb 1998
Affective responses of 169 Hispanic and 196 African American college students were investigated in simulated hiring scenarios involving race-based affirmative action. Findings suggest that the beneficiaries of affirmative action may only be detrimentally affected if they believe they are less qualified than other applicants. Responses of Hispanics and African Americans did not differ significantly. Contains 21 references. (Author/SV)
