A Vision for Block Scheduling: Where Are We Now? Where Are We Going?
Shortt, Thomas L.; Thayer, Yvonne V.
NASSP Bulletin, v81 n593 p1-15 Dec 1997
High school block scheduling is in its earliest stages. Although time structures have changed, usage has not. Block schedules are threatened when curriculum standards and student mobility are ignored, courses are improperly sequenced, funding for increased personnel needs is inadequate, performing-arts instruction is not accommodated, and student-assessment schedules are unplanned. Success depends on articulating clear goals and providing staff development. (MLH)
