Reviews literature on disenfranchised grief (grief not openly acknowledged) and examines problems inherent in the resolution process. The absence both of social recognition and of support were identified as key components. A framework for recognizing disenfranchised grief issues and strategies for facilitating a healthy recovery are offered. (RJM)
