Problem-Solving through Technology: An Interpretive Dilemma.
Rowell, Patricia M.; Gustafson, Brenda J.; Guilbert, Sandra M.
Alberta Journal of Educational Research, v43 n2-3 p86-98 Sum-Fall 1997
Interviews with 20 engineers revealed that their approach to technological problem-solving bore little resemblance to the model of "problem-solving through technology" in the Alberta elementary science curriculum. Engineers emphasized the importance of context and previous experience in making decisions about each unique situation, whereas the school program suggests a sequence to be used in all contexts. (SV)
