Roles of Temperamental Arousal and Gender-Segregated Play in Young Children's Social Adjustment.
Fabes, Richard A.; And Others
Developmental Psychology, v33 n4 p693-702 Jul 1997
Studied relationship of temperament and same-sex peer interaction with gender differences in adjustment. Found that highly arousable boys who played with same-sex peers had increased problem behaviors. Arousable girls who played with other girls were relatively unlikely to show problem behaviors. The arousability and same-sex peer interaction predicted boys' peer status, and was partially mediated by problem behaviors. (Author/KB)
