Factors Influencing Believing and Blaming in Reports of Child Sexual Abuse: Survey of a Community Sample.
Rubin, Miriam L.; Thelen, Mark H.
Journal of Child Sexual Abuse, v5 n2 p81-100 1996
Questionnaires consisting of vignettes in which 11-year-old girls reported being sexually abused were completed by 202 respondents. A majority of respondents viewed the reports of sexual abuse as truthful; however, they conveyed confusion regarding why some alleged victims retract their reports or do not resist their abusers. Gender differences in believing and blaming were significant. (LSR)
