Parental Abusive versus Supportive Behaviors and Their Relation to Hostility and Aggression in Young Adults.
Nicholas, Karen B.; Bieber, Stephen L.
Child Abuse & Neglect: The International Journal, v20 n12 p1195-1211 Dec 1996
A study of 216 undergraduate psychology students investigated the relationship of parental support to child abuse. Results indicate that less severe abusive behaviors, especially emotional abuse, may have detrimental outcomes of hostility and aggression and that supportive behaviors by both mothers and fathers may be important factors in the outcome.
