A Medical School Changes Its Curriculum to Increase the Emphasis on Care and Compassion.
Mangan, Katherine S.
Chronicle of Higher Education, v43 n12 pA12 Nov 15 1996
The Brown University (Rhode Island) medical school curriculum content remains the same, but students must now demonstrate proficiency in relationships with patients, both real and simulated. In addition to traditional skill areas, students must demonstrate competency in effective communication, moral reasoning and ethical judgment, lifelong learning, self-care and personal growth, knowledge of social/community contexts of medical care, and problem solving.
