Assesses data from an ethnographic study of an inner-city primary school in England and explores the relationship between masculinity, primary schools, and the local community and culture. Data indicate primary and secondary schools generally reflect male structures and practices, although the form of hegemonic masculinity developed is not "fixed" and may vary from school to school.
