Alternatives to Field-Based Experiences: The Comparative Effects of On-Campus Laboratories.
Metcalf, Kim K.; And Others
Teaching and Teacher Education, v12 n3 p271-83 May 1996
This study compared the effects of an extended, systematic on-campus laboratory experience with a similarly extensive, systematic field-based experience for preservice teachers. Results suggested that laboratory teachers, but not field experience teachers, improved their ability to reflect on teaching and facilitate desired instruction. Results were equal in the preservice teachers' ability to implement and plan lessons. (SM)
