Restructuring VA Ambulatory Care and Medical Education: The PACE Model of Primary Care.
Cope, Dennis W.; And Others
Academic Medicine, v71 n7 p761-71 Jul 1996
The Veterans' Administration new Primary Ambulatory Care and Education (PACE) program at the Sepulveda (California) VA Medical Center, departs from traditional VA medical education models by shifting focus of care from inpatient to outpatient settings. The program uses an interdisciplinary team approach and stresses managed primary care. Aspects of the PACE program (strategic planning, reorganization, quality improvement) useful to other institutions are described. (Author/MSE)
