The Sound of a Gateway Closing: How--and Why--Anti-Affirmative Action Scholars Mounted Their Assault.
Hawkins, B. Denise
Black Issues in Higher Education, v13 n7 p16-18,20-21 May 30 1996
An examination of the debate over affirmative action policies in higher education finds that increasingly, conservative black scholars are opposing continuation of affirmative action. In addition, the movement is gaining credibility through the activities of conservative academic groups such as the National Association of Scholars. These groups cite individual merit as the central issue in admissions and hiring. (MSE)
