Statistical Models for College Admission and Enrollment: A Case Study for a Selective Liberal Arts College.
Bruggink, Thomas H.; Gambhir, Vivek
Research in Higher Education, v37 n2 p221-40 Apr 1996
This study applied probability models in a four-year case study at a selective liberal arts college. The study found that, while admissions decisions matched institutional goals for student characteristics, discrepancies between acceptance and enrollment decisions frustrated the institution's efforts to achieve diversity and highlighted the difficulty in targeting special applicant groups for admission.
