Students' Personal and Academic Attributions of University Withdrawal.
Johnson, Genevieve M.; Buck, George H.
Canadian Journal of Higher Education, v25 n2 p53-77 1995
A survey of 498 undergraduate students withdrawing from a Canadian university was used to develop a model of student attrition. Students frequently attributed withdrawal to personal characteristics, institutional factors, and societal variables. Student academic performance was a causal factor for university-initiated withdrawal, and student psychological state was critically related to student-initiated withdrawal. Implications for student services are discussed. (Author/MSE)
