Analysis of 773 journal articles on undergraduate medical education found curriculum, teaching, and student assessment most frequently discussed, with 45% reporting research activities. Research studies were generally conducted in a naturalistic environment; were evaluative or comparative; used observation, testing, or questionnaires for data collection; and included inferential statistical analyses. Increased interdisciplinary collaboration was found. (Author/MSE)
