Analysis of Establishing Operations for Self-Injury Maintained by Escape.
Smith, Richard G.; And Others
Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, v28 n4 p515-35 Win 1995
Several studies identifying establishing operations for negatively reinforced behavior among nine adults with developmental disabilities are reported. After verifying through functional analysis that self-injurious behavior was maintained by escape, some establishing properties of task demands were investigated by systematically altering task trial dimensions such as task novelty, duration of instructional sessions, and rate of task presentation.
