Kindergarten Children's Initial Experiences in Physical Education: The Relentless Persistence for Play Clashes with the Zone of Acceptable Responses.
Sanders, Steve; Graham, George
Journal of Teaching in Physical Education, v14 n4 p372-83 Jul 1995
Reports a study that investigated how kindergarten children view participation in physical education. Four students of varying skill levels were observed, interviewed, and videotaped. The students demonstrated a relentless persistence for play, which conflicted with the teacher's zone of acceptable responses. Children preferred tasks presented in a more playlike atmosphere. (SM)
