Examines different types of auxiliary aids and services necessary to ensure effective communication with disabled children. The relevant legislation is discussed and guidelines are provided for deciding the appropriate type of aid for different cases. Low-cost strategies are proposed to ensure that individuals with a disability will not be treated differently because of the use of inappropriate auxiliary aids. (AA)
