The Effects of Smoking Schedules on Cessation Outcome: Can We Improve on Common Methods of Gradual and Abrupt Nicotine Withdrawal?
Cinciripini, Paul M.; And Others
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v63 n3 p388-99 Jun 1995
Participants (n=128) quit smoking on a target date, after a 3-week period of either scheduled reduced smoking, nonscheduled reduced smoking, scheduled nonreduced smoking, or nonscheduled, nonreduced smoking. After one year, the scheduled reduced group performed the best, and the nonscheduled reduced group the worst. Both scheduled groups performed better than nonscheduled ones. (JPS)
