Occupational Stress and Burnout in Educational Administration.
Torelli, Joseph A.; Gmelch, Walter H.
People and Education, v1 n4 p363-81 Dec 1993
Surveys 1,000 Washington principals and superintendents to ascertain the nature and extent of their occupational stress and burnout and the association with sex role orientation. Superintendents perceive less task-based and conflict-mediating stress than do principals, but report more externally caused stress. Task-based stress is the best indicator of emotional exhaustion burnout. Gender's influence is inconclusive. (25 references) (MLH)
