Who Chooses to Teach (and Why)?
Hanushek, Eric A.; Pace, Richard R.
Economics of Education Review, v14 n2 p101-17 Jun 1995
Analyzes the choice of preparing for a teaching career in college. Traces the path of a sample of high school seniors in 1980 through college and teaching preparation. Only a small proportion aspiring to teach ever complete a bachelor's degree with a specialty in teaching and education. Teacher training completion is significantly lowered by state certification requirements. (23 references) (MLH)
