Genre Repetoire: The Structuring of Communicative Practices in Organizations.
Orlikowski, Wanda J.; Yates, JoAnne
Administrative Science Quarterly, v39 n4 p541-74 Dec 1994
Uses genre and genre repertoire to investigate a community's structuring of communicative practices. Examines communications exchanged by a group of distributed knowledge workers in a multiyear, interorganizational project conducted primarily through electronic mail. Results reveal rich, varied communications shaped in response to community norms, project events, time pressure, and media capabilities. (56 references) (MLH)
