The Role of Shame in Perceptions of Marital Equity, Intimacy, and Competency.
Blavier, Donald C.; Glenn, Ed
American Journal of Family Therapy, v23 n1 p73-82 Spr 1995
Related individual experiences of shame, inferiority, alienation, self-esteem, and gender to perceptions of equity, intimacy, and competency in marital relations. Found no significant gender-based differences in shame intensity. Findings suggest that shame is a different experience from low self-esteem and is influential in perceptions of marital dynamics.
