Briefly describes culture shock and library anxiety as they are experienced by people of various backgrounds and discusses information-literacy instruction, which may alleviate these problems. Suggestions are included for preparing to instruct diverse groups, especially those groups new to the librarian. Materials that provide helpful background information are described. (GLR)
