The Association of Role Conflict and Ambiguity with Administrator Stress and Burnout.
Gmelch, Walter H.; Torelli, Joseph A.
Journal of School Leadership, v4 n3 p341-56 May 1994
Assesses the association of role conflict and ambiguity with the administrative stress cycle. Surveys 1,000 randomly selected Washington State principals and superintendents, using the Administrator Work Inventory, consisting of the Administrator Stress Index, Malasch Burnout Inventory, Role Questionnaire, and demographic and organizational questions. Results show that role conflict and ambiguity contribute specifically to conflict-mediating stress. (Contains 33 references.) (MLH)
