Financial Resources, Parent Psychological Functioning, Parent Co-Caregiving, and Early Adolescent Competence in Rural Two-Parent African-American Families.
Brody, Gene H.; And Others
Child Development, v65 n2 Apr p590-605 1994
Examined relationships between family financial resources, academic competence, and socioemotional adjustment during early adolescence. Subjects were 90 African American youths and their married parents in the rural South. Found that parents with greater financial resources were less depressed and more optimistic, and their children were better able to control their behavior and achieve higher grades in school. (MDM)
