Increasing Student Involvement through Residence Hall Lifestyle Assignments and Developmental Programming.
Warner, Mark J.; Noftsinger, John B.
Journal of the Freshman Year Experience, v6 n1 p91-114 1994
This study investigated the usefulness of three dormitory lifestyle assignments (male-only, female-only, co-ed) in promoting student participation in residence hall activities at James Madison University (Virginia). Results showed assignment to coeducational dormitories fostered more and varied student involvement than did male-only or female-only assignments. Implications for freshman retention are examined.
