Responds to article by Richardson (1993). Argues that career psychologists suffer less from adherence to established theories than from lack of systematic, theory-based research programs. Contends that most effective way to improve theory and research in vocational psychology is to identify new theoretical insights that merit attention and to teach scholars new methods of investigation.
